To hear listing agent Jason Morrison tell it, the view from 3729 Ocean Blvd. alone is worth nearly $30 million.
The 7,000 square-foot mansion called “Crown of the Sea” is on the market for $29,995,000. Built into a seaside cliff in Corona del Mar, the home has panoramic views of Catalina Island, Newport Harbor and Little Corona Beach.
“It really makes you feel one with the ocean,” Morrison said. “The most unique thing about this home is that every room with living space enjoys an ocean view.”
Noted Newport Beach architect Brion Jeannette designed the home near the corner of Poppy Avenue and Ocean Boulevard. Construction on the home began in 1997 and was completed in 2000.
From the sunken living room to the granite and stainless-steel kitchen, every room in features large, curved windows overlooking the water.
Typical of Jeannette’s organic style, the house features flowing, scalloped lines and few 90-degree angles.
“Jeannette really designed the home to be modern and contemporary, but also warm and natural,” Morrison said.
The architect also designed the 30,000-square-foot Corona del Mar mansion known as the Portabello Estate, which has been valued as high as $75 million. The Portabello features an automobile museum, movie theater and bowling alley among other amenities.
Crown of the Sea has amenities like an elevator and his and her private baths with compartmentalized commodes and bidets. There’s also a sunken wet bar with granite counter tops and a wine tasting room with a climate-controlled unit and a wine rack wall.
Morrison couldn’t disclose much about the owner of Ocean Boulevard on Tuesday, or why he wanted to sell the place.
“He’s a very private individual,” Morrison said. “If I was in his shoes, I would wrestle with the decision to sell it.”
There are only a handful of other homes in Newport Beach on the market in the $30 million price range.
One such luxury home is 401 Avocado Avenue, currently listed for $38 million. The 4-bedroom, 3.5 bath estate with its own tennis court sits on 2.37 acres overlooking the mouth of Newport Harbor.
At 18 Harbor Island, 32.6 million will buy a 10-bedroom, 12-bath French neoclassical bay front estate with moorings for several large yachts.
