SAN LUIS OBISPO — Junior point guard Jade Smith-Williams had 18 points, six assists and two steals to pace the visiting Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Monday.
UCI (3-11, 0-2 in conference) trailed, 36-34, at halftime, and was outscored by 10 in the second half.
The Anteaters in the second half shot a dismal 36.4% from the free-throw line (four of 11).
The Mustangs (8-4, 1-0) were far more successful, making 17 of 19 free throws (89.5%) in the final 20 minutes.
