Community SeniorServ Announces Change at the Helm

Don Lewis, president of the Board of Directors of Community SeniorServ, which serves Costa Mesa and is the state’s largest safety net non-profit agency providing social, nutrition and health services to older adults and their families, announced today that its Chief Executive Officer Randy A. Platt will be leaving the organization in January of 2010.

Lewis said that the Board’s executive committee is actively seeking a fulltime replacement for Platt, who will be joining Silverado Senior Living, a nationally recognized healthcare company, to lead its Hospice and At Home divisions. In the interim, the Board is committed to working closely with Randy and other senior managers at Community SeniorServ to ensure a smooth transition for its clients and key stakeholders.

“We want to assure everyone that it will be business as usual at Community SeniorServ during this transitional period in our executive leadership,” said Lewis. “We reluctantly accept Randy’s resignation and wish him well in his new assignment. We will continue to pursue our vision to be an innovative leader and advocate for older adults by providing quality services built upon a strong infrastructure and diverse financial base.”

Community SeniorServ is committed to providing critical services to help seniors remain independent in their own homes. Designed to promote well being and independence, some of the services provided by the agency are partially funded through the Older Americans Act. Grants, individual donations, client contributions and fundraising activities are managed to maximize quality service to as many as possible.

The agency serves more than 5,000 meals every day—exceeding 1.3 million meals a year – to seniors at home and at 27 nutrition centers in central and north Orange County in the cities of Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, La Habra, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Midway City, Orange, Placentia, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin, Westminster and Yorba Linda. Professional case managers help more than 4,000 elders to locate and obtain services that help them remain independent at home.

Community SeniorServ has an annual budget of more than $12 million.
