MOORPARK — Poerava Gantt had 16 kills to help lead the No. 5-seeded Pirates to a 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 16-25, 15-9 upset over the No. 4 seed to advance to the state tournament Saturday night.
Rachel Freeno added 15 kills 18 digs, while Brianna Fields had 13 kills for OCC (20-2). Nikki Osuna led the Pirates with 26 digs while Kimya Jafroudi led with 54 assists. Moorpark dropped to 20-5.
OCC will play at the state tournament, which starts Friday at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton.

IRVINE — Megan Munce, a Newport Harbor High product, had 39 assists and 12 digs to help lead the Horned Frogs to a 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23 nonconference win Saturday.
Kari Pestolesi had 22 kills and 18 digs to lead UCI (22-8).
