AUSTIN, Texas — The visiting Anteaters had leads of 6-0, 15-10 and 19-18, before the Longhorns rallied in the nonconference game Sunday.
Senior Zack Atkinson led UCI scorers with 10 points and his five rebounds matched Darren Moore for team-high honors.
No. 3-ranked Texas is 1-0.
UCI (1-1) visits Loyola Marymount Wednesday at 8 p.m.

BOULDER, Colo. — Junior Jade Smith-Williams had 18 points to pace the visiting Anteaters, who led, 33-19, at halftime.
Smith-Williams made three of four three-point attempts, while senior Rebecca Maessen (11) and junior Kim Barnes (10) also scored in double figures for UCI (0-2).
