Hat trick for Langston

November 04, 2009

Evan Langston scored his first hat trick of the season for the Red Dragons of the boys’ seven-and-under division in AYSO Region 97 action.

Two of Langston’s goals came unassisted against the Big Red Fire Dragons. Devin Fairchild provided an assist. In the third quarter, Brandon Kincaid dribbled the ball across the field before scoring. Tim Badum scored with a shot from the right side just inside the box. In the final minutes, Justin McCoy, coming across the mouth of the goal from the right, amazed his coaches and parents after carefully placing the left foot shot out of the goalkeeper’s reach. It was Aedan Skellern who by all accounts was the player of the match with his total midfield presence and ability to control the movement of the Red Dragon offense. Defensively, the Red Dragons kept the opposition at midfield.

The Red Team 3, Romero 2: The Red Team claimed first place in the standings after a hard-fought game at Harper Field. They opened up the scoring by a brilliant pass from Cooper Peters to Griffin Burke. The Red Team increased its lead to 2-0 after a long pass from goalkeeper Sargis Srapyan resulted in Peters’ second goal of the game. Liam Tough, Sean Arnold and Spencer Swanson had to work hard to stop a number of attacking chances by team Romero. Maxwell Spruill, Henry Levis and Michael Nieto disrupted many passes in the middle of the field. Their pressure almost paid off when Sohrob Goodarzy crossed to Peters. Alex Michaelson came very close to scoring in the second half, his long-range shot was inches away from the top bar. Brian Shaw scored the decisive goal. Shaw’s left-footed shot secured the win for The Red Team for its seventh straight victory this season.
