Employees from McCarthy Building Companies of Newport Beach and its local construction sites recently gathered and donated approximately 1,000 pounds of much needed food and supplies to the Orange County Rescue Mission. This philanthropy was a part of McCarthy’s employee volunteer “Heart Hats” community service program.
McCarthy Office Manager Linda Osborn spearheaded this effort after she read an article in the Daily Pilot about the Rescue Mission being in dire need of donations and food. The article’s focus was to “Give a little bit of love to the Village of Hope” this Valentine’s Day and is a part of the Rescue Mission’s “Heart for Hunger” program.
Osborn said, “the article made me think about Valentine’s Day in a different way this year considering the state of our economy and the number of people out of work.” She decided to act on her feelings and began a campaign to collect food and supplies from McCarthy employees.
