Newport Beach and Costa Mesa firefighters put out a fire Monday morning at a Newport Beach home that was under construction near the Santa Ana Country Club. There were no injuries; the damage is estimated at $70,000.
Firefighters responded to the structure fire on Pegasus Street at 10:51 a.m. A fire that had started in the attic had spread throughout the room, authorities said.
By the time firefighters arrived, smoke was billowing from the roof. They began an aggressive attack on the fire, and were able to extinguish it in 10 minutes, authorities said.
