First baseman Danny Moskovits, center fielder John Doering and second baseman Michael Bloom each received first-team All-Pacific Coast League laurels after the seniors led the Corona del Mar High baseball team to a runner-up finish in league and the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs.
The Sea Kings (18-11, 11-4 in league) went from missing the playoffs in 2008 for the first time under Coach John Emme to one win away in 2009 from possibly getting Emme his third section championship in 12 years.
In CdM’s 6-3 victory at Los Altos of Hacienda Heights in the quarterfinals, Emme collected his 200th career victory.
The Harvard-bound Moskovits returns to the first team after being a second-team pick in 2008. Moskovits batted .333, led the team with 39 runs batted in, 14 doubles and 36 runs scored, and he finished tied for first with six home runs.
