Locals to compete in showcase

CdM players take the field today, while Newport Harbor’s play on Saturday.

Seven local high school baseball players and two coaches are participating in the Ryan Lemmon Foundation Senior Showcase at Windrow Park in Irvine today and Saturday.

The players representing the Pacific Coast League from Corona del Mar are first baseman Danny Moskovits, outfielder Mitch Sands, pitcher Steven Manning, second baseman Michael Bloom and center fielder Jon Doering.

CdM Coach John Emme is one of the coaches.

The Pacific Coast League plays against the Sea View League today at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Newport Harbor first baseman Alex Rios and pitcher/outfielder Nick Vlahakis will play for the Sunset League and Evan Chalmers will coach.

The Sunset League faces the Trinity League at 10 a.m.

There will be a home run contest before today’s Pacific Coast League-Sea View League game.

Five local players, Newport Harbor’s Stephen Guerin and Maxwell Gerard, and Corona del Mar’s Brian Ford, Mitch Gardner and Will Morrow, are taking part in Saturday’s Ryan Lemmon Foundation Sophomore Showcase. The event, a pro-style workout, begins at 9 a.m.
