St. Joachim Catholic School in Costa Mesa had its annual ‘Summer Games’ on Friday May 29th under the motto "Patriot Games." Every year St. Joachim Summer Games focus on a different theme and as this year in a historical presidential election year and also the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln the school honored the country’s patriotic leaders – thus "Patriot Games. " Fundraiser and FunDay in one, students of all grades, starting with Pre-K up to the 8th grade graduating class presented little skits, songs, or dances all around this year’s theme.
Patriotic posters made by all the classes were on display all over the school while onlookers could watch the children participate in games like bingo, beach ball volleyball, Frisbee golf and hoola hoops. One special fun relay race even featured "Abraham Lincoln" competing with "Betsy Ross," a race where one needed to be not only a good runner but also skilled in quickly putting on and taking off the costumes and handing them to the next runner to make the team win.
