Newport Beach’s Sage Hill School can add to its list of accomplished students, as one student was awarded a $5,000 scholarship for her community service and another was given a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship.
Aiyana Bobrownicki was awarded the $5,000 Disneyland Resort Scholarship for Excellence in Community Service, Academics and Leadership for her work in creating a community day camp that served 175. She also recruited and subsidized girls from local nonprofits who helped families on the brink of homelessness. Troy Astorino, a senior, was one of 2,500 chosen from among 15,000 candidates for the National Merit Scholarship. He is a four-year letterman in tennis and basketball, a team captain and an Advanced Placement national Scholar. He is planning on attending MIT and will major in aerospace engineering.
