NEWPORT BEACH — The Sea Kings set a new course record, shooting three-over-par as a team in the Pacific Coast League match at Newport Beach Country Club Tuesday.

Camden Nicholson shot three-under-par 32 to earn medalist honors and help CdM set a school record and beat Tesoro’s record of 181 set two years ago.

Brian Mull shot one-under 34, Mike Moorhead carded a 36, Josh Starnes shot 37 and Jonathan Keedy shot 39 for CdM (13-2, 7-0 in league), which will play against Irvine Thursday at 4 p.m. at Oak Creek Golf Club.

NEWPORT BEACH — Travis Russell shot two-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Big Canyon Country Club Tuesday.

Russell’s 34 tied the lowest score for a Newport Harbor player on the Big Canyon Country Club course in the nine years Scott Tarnow has been coach of the Sailors. Russell had an eagle and a birdie in his round.

Zach Eddy (37), Marcus Kiel (40), Kawika Morse (41) and Ericson Klein (42) also contributed to the win.

Newport Harbor (14-3-1, 5-1 in league) will play against Marina Thursday at Meadowlark Golf Club.

The Sailors also scored a 187-199 nonleague win over El Toro Monday at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Russell shot one-under 35 to become the medalist, while Eddy (37), Morse (38), Klein (38) and Mychael Clark (39) also scored.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Cody Caldwell produced 11 kills to help lead the Sailors to a 25-19, 25-13, 27-25 Sunset League win Tuesday.

Hamilton Day added seven kills and Will Connelly had four kills and three blocks for Newport Harbor (17-7, 4-0 in league). Richard de St. Jean (three kills, two blocks), JB Green (two kills, 10 digs, one ace), Connor Curry (eight digs) and Jackson Carmack (13 assists, nine digs) also contributed to the win.

Newport Harbor, ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division I, will play host to Los Alamitos Friday at 5:45 p.m.

IRVINE — Joey Cooper had six kills and Andy Morrow added five kills and six aces in the Sea Kings’ 25-10, 25-12, 25-16 Pacific Coast League win Tuesday.

Evan Dean had four kills and four blocks, while Spencer Haly contributed four kills for CdM (19-6, 5-0 in league). Mike Ensign totaled 10 assists and Nick Curci had eight assists.
