A month of inspiration

Monthlong event invites kids and their families to celebrate the arts with workshops offered at low to no costs.

The Nickelodeon Family Fun Day begins at 10 a.m. April 25 with the Nick Jr. Animation Showcase, featuring advance screenings of new episodes of shows like Dora the Explorer and Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. Afterward, artists from Ni Hao, Kai-Lan will teach kids to draw characters. Then at noon, kids ages 5 and older can participate in the Spongebob Squarepants 10th anniversary celebration with special screenings and a character drawing session. Tickets are $5.

May Day

The Waldorf School of Orange County, 2350 Canyon Drive, Costa Mesa, presents an old-fashioned May Faire beginning at 10 a.m. May 2. Kids will perform maypole dances until 11:30 a.m., when attendees can partake in crafts, create floral hair garlands, learn folk dancing, and enjoy food and wares from local merchants. Floral Fantasy

The Orange County Museum of Art, 850 San Clemente Drive, Newport Beach, presents a special free family day to enjoy their new exhibition, “Illumination: The Paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe, Agnes Pelton, Agnes Martin, and Florence Miller Pierce,” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 10. Power of the Pen
