COSTA MESA — Sophomore right-hander Brett Wallach went eight innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five Tuesday, helping the Pirates remain atop the Orange Empire Conference.
Wallach improved to 5-1 after getting enough run support, a solo home run by Ryan Sheeks in the first inning and Beck Wheeler singled in a run with two outs in the eighth. OCC (25-9, 13-3 in conference) plays at IVC Thursday at 2 p.m.
