Breakdown: The UC Irvine men’s basketball team will attempt to knock off a Big West Conference leader for the second time in eight days, when it visits Long Beach State, which is tied for first with Cal State Northridge ... The Anteaters (10-17, 6-7 in conference) handled Northridge, 73-51, at home Feb. 18, before winning at Hawaii as part of BracketBuster Saturday ... The two-game winning streak matches a season high for UCI, which dropped a 67-63 verdict to Long Beach State (13-12, 8-4) at home, Jan. 31 ... Eric Wise, a 6-foot-5 center, leads UCI, averaging 13.6 points per game, tops among Big West freshmen ... UCI senior forward Kevin Bland (10.1 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game) leads the Big West with six double-doubles this season ... UCI senior Brett Lauer leads the conference in three-point accuracy (51.3% from beyond the arc, hitting a team-best 60 three-pointers this season) ... Senior Donovan Morris leads the 49ers in scoring (15.6 ppg), but has been sidelined recently by a foot injury ... Freshman guard Larry Anderson (11.1 ppg), junior guard Stephan Gilling (10.4 ppg) and freshman forward T.J. Robinson (10.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg) pace the 49ers ... Robinson had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the first game against UCI.
