NEWPORT HARBOR — Senior Innocente Tellez scored two goals to help lead the Sailors to their first Sunset League win of the season Wednesday at Newport Harbor.
Tellez scored on an assist from junior Dillan Freiberg in the 39th minute to give Newport Harbor (7-6-3, 1-3-1 in league) a 1-0 lead. Tellez then found the back of the net again in the 45th minute for a 2-0 advantage, this time finishing off a pass from senior Will “Choco” Muñoz.
Newport Harbor junior goalkeeper Kyle Evans had five saves.
The Sailors will play host to Fountain Valley Friday at 5 p.m.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Corona del Mar 10, Irvine 4
CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Elise Molnar scored four goals to lead the Sea Kings in their Pacific Coast League game Wednesday.
Senior Heather Van Hiel added two goals, while junior Margot Money contributed three assists for CdM (16-1, 2-0 in league), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division I. Seniors Erin McAdams and Victoria Kennedy recorded two steals each for the Sea Kings.
Senior goalie Kate Baldoni recorded five saves.
Corona del Mar will play at Santa Margarita in a nonleague game Saturday.

The Eagles return to action Tuesday against Edison.

Junior Chris Anderson added five points for Newport Harbor (4-14, 0-4 in league).
The Sailors will play host to Fountain Valley Friday at 7 p.m.
