A string quartet of young musicians from Orange County’s Pacific Symphony Youth Ensemble played selections ranging from Mozart to an Irish folk tune to a crowd of rapt children at the Newport Beach Public Library on Saturday.
Sponsored by the library, the concert was intended to introduce young children to classical music and a variety of musical instruments.
The performers, ranging in age from 12 to 18, are a part of the Pacific Symphony’s Youth Ensemble. The youth program gives talented young musicians a chance to work with professional musicians from the symphony and improve their musicianship by performing in ensemble groups.
