Reading for a Record

Costa Mesa Public libraries hosted  Read For the Record events in each of its branches. With the help of the Costa Mesa High School cheer squad, several Costa Mesa youth listened to the the girls read the story of Corderoy and got help with several craft projects.

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is a campaign designed to bring attention to the importance of early education.  By encouraging hundreds of thousands of children and adults to read the same book on the same day, Jumpstart aims to break a world record and to make early education a national priority.

Children and adults will read together at events nationwide on October 2, in schools, libraries, stores, hotels, playgrounds, offices, and homes. Additional information can be found at www.readfortherecrod.org.

Corduroy, by Don Freeman is coming to town! READ/Orange County is partnering with Jumpstart for the third consecutive year to bring “Read for the Record” to OC Public Libraries branches and community partners. Events will be held between Monday, September 29th and Thursday, October 2nd. Come and join in the fun- be part of making a new World’s Record!
