The Sailors improved to 5-3.

SANTA ANA — The Lightning, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division IV, absorbed their first loss of the season in seven matches in a nonleague contest Monday.
Senior Jaclyn Smrecek and freshman Katie Bick each won two singles sets for the Lightning (6-1).

Kim Haycraft (42), Jackie Crosson (43), Maritza Gonzalez (47), Jeana DeArakal (50) also scored for the Eagles.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Seniors Kelsey Venditozzi and Sara Anderson both shot 52, over nine holes at San Juan Hills Golf Course (par 36) in the Academy League opener Monday.
