COSTA MESA — The host Pirates had little difficulty in the 25-11, 25-13, 25-12 nonconference triumph Wednesday.

Sophomore Jessica Brown led the way with 11 kills, while Rachel Freeno and Karlee Skalla each chipped in nine.

Emily Lyon had 25 assists for Coach Chuck Cutenese’s OCC squad, which improved to 4-0.

The Pirates play host to Eastern Utah today at 1:30 p.m.

Chapman 2, Vanguard 1

ORANGE — Lions freshman Albert Quinones converted a corner kick assist from senior Jason Swift in the 25th minute, but it proved to be too little too late in this nonconference clash Wednesday at Chapman.

The Panthers scored in the ninth minute and added another in the 15th minute.

Vanguard, which was outshot, 13-3, is now 1-3-1.
