UCI awards Share Our Selves executive director

The executive director of Share Our Selves, a charity that provides health care, food and other services to indigents in Orange County, recently won an award from UCI.

Karen McGlinn, who has been in charge of Share our Selves for 12 years, was honored by Chancellor Michael Drake with the Community Health Care Research Advocate Award for her work putting medical science to practice in Costa Mesa.

The charity she runs is one of the largest of its kind in Orange County, serving many of the area’s homeless.

From its offices on Superior Avenue, the center distributes bags of groceries, writes checks to pay rent and bills, and provides medical and dental services to patients who might not be able to afford it elsewhere.
