Sage Hill hosts private dedication for gym

April 29, 2008

Sage Hill High School will host a special, private dedication today for the naming of its gymnasium after former Time Magazine “Man of the Year” Peter Ueberroth, who is also a founder of the school.

Ueberroth and his wife, Ginny, were two of the founders of Sage Hill High School and served on the school’s Athletic Advisory Council in the past.

Ueberroth is best known for his role in organizing the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, which were the first privately financed and profitable games. He was later named “Man of the Year” by Time.

Ueberroth’s daughter Vicki is a Sage Hill school trustee, his grandson Nick is an alumnus and another grandson, Joey, is in the high school’s class of 2010.

The dedication will be at 1 p.m. in the newly named Peter V. Ueberroth Gymnasium. It is an invitation-only dedication, which is not open to the public.
