NEWPORT BEACH — Juniors Daron Arnold and Cameron Chase swept at No. 1 doubles to help the Sailors deal the Griffins their first Sunset League loss of the season.

Los Al was 4-0 before Monday. Senior No. 1 singles player John Hutchinson won two of his three matches, while the No. 2 doubles team of seniors McKenna Duley and Taylor Friend swept for the Sailors (5-4, 3-2 in league).


Newport Harbor will play host to Esperanza today at 3 p.m.

Doubles – Arnold-Chase (NH) def. Sharzer-Chonoles, 7-6 (3); def. Worthyton-Golden, 6-0, def. Mar-Bozenka, 6-2; Duley-Friend (NH) won, 6-1, 7-5, 6-3; R. McKennon-Gracia (NH) lost, 2-6, (sub) C. McKennon-Brostek (NH) lost, 5-7, won 6-3.

COSTA MESA — Andrew Ayala shot one-over-par 36 to earn medalist honors in the Orange Coast League match at Costa Mesa Country Club Monday.

Storm Hagen (38), Ryan Knapp (38), John Person (43) and Chris Quinlan (45) also scored for Estancia (12-3, 9-0 in league).

LAGUNA BEACH — Jarred Hoffman shot a season-best, five-over-par 37 for the Lightning in their Academy League match at Aliso Creek Golf Club Monday.

Steve Choi also shot 37, while Steve Grant (39), James Chai (44) and Mac Mace (44) also scored for Sage Hill (7-7, 5-3 in league).
