Harbor, CdM take top seeds

The Newport Harbor High Sailors, the CIF Southern Section Division I champions, earned the top seed in the CIF Southern Section Masters tournament pairings.

Corona del Mar (24-7), which lost the championship match to Newport afterclaiming a 5-2 lead in the fourth period, was seeded second.

Newport Harbor (28-3) will face No. 16-seeded Sonora in the first round of pool play at Newport Harbor Friday at 2:30 p.m. The winner of that game will face the winner of the Laguna Beach-Riverside Poly matchup.

The Sea Kings will take on No. 15-seeded Arroyo Grande at Santa Margarita at 4 p.m. That winner will face the victor from the Santa Barbara-Santa Margarita contest.

This year’s tournament, which starts Friday, will be held place at El Toro, Mater Dei, Newport Harbor and Santa Margarita. Saturday games are at El Toro High.
