Jay Hosack, an assistant coach for the U.S. men’s national team, has been named an assistant coach with the UC Irvine women’s volleyball program.
Hosack joins UCI after serving as the associate head coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs at Irvine Valley College since 2005. Hosack, who will continue to coach the men’s team at IVC, was instrumental in the program’s Orange Empire Conference titles in 2005 and 2007 as well as guiding the Lasers to a state championship last season. Hosack, who garnered 2007 conference Co-Coach of the Year honors, also won a conference crown with the women’s program last year.
From 2000-04 Hosack served as the head coach for the men’s and women’s volleyball teams at UC Santa Cruz, where he was responsible for day-to-day operations, recruiting and fundraising. The men’s program was regularly ranked nationally in the top 10, advancing to the national semifinals in 2004. That same year, UC Santa Cruz produced its first All-American in the sport of men’s volleyball.
