Former Costa Mesa City Council candidate Jim Fisler has announced he intends to run again during the city’s next elections.
Fisler, who ran in 1996 and 1998 to contribute his views on local immigration issues to the race, said he intended to run a “real campaign” — that he intends to win — in 2008.
“When [former President] Clinton signed a bill in 1996 that allowed cities to deputize local police officers to check immigration status, I ran just to bring those issues up in the candidate’s debate,” he said.
