More than 5,400 Costa Mesa residents lost power Thursday for more than three hours when palm tree leaves hit an electrical pole.
The power went out for 5,457 customers at 1:40 p.m. and was restored at 5:05 p.m., a Southern California Edison representative said. Police believed high winds blew the top of a tree into the pole.
A line crew fixed the damaged equipment, which supplied power to homes and businesses bounded by Baker to Wilson streets and Harbor Boulevard to the 55 Freeway, officials said.
