Newport Harbor High School Class of 2007 graduate Nicholas Frazier will be one of 25 Orange County students to receive UCLA’s Alumni Scholarship award at its annual Scholarship Dinner Sept. 11.

Nicholas will receive $1,000 per year toward his education at UCLA, where his concentration will be pre-med.

A scholar athlete at Newport Harbor, Nicholas was a varsity football player and captain for three years, graduated with a GPA of 4.21, and performed many hours of community service.

Contingent on receiving the UCLA award, students are required to perform 30 hours of community service a year while attending the college.

Nicholas’ mom, Geri Frazier, herself a UCLA alumna, said while the money Nicholas received is important and an honor, “the really cool part is that he gets a mentor in his area of concentration for all four years he is at UCLA.”

Nicholas starts his freshman year Sept. 27, and will live on campus in the dorm and play rugby.
