Balboa Island hosts art contest Aug. 6 to 10

Local plein-air artists will have easels and canvases set up along Balboa Island from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 6 through 10.

Their completed pieces will be framed and hung at the Debra Huse Gallery, 229 Marine Ave., Suite E, Balboa Island on Aug. 10.

There will be a "Brush Off" on Marine Avenue from 4 to 6 p.m. , when the artists will have to complete a painting in two hours.

The public can meet the artists and view paintings on display at a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery.

The community will also have an opportunity to vote for their favorite paintings.
