Restaurant Row kicks off on 17th Street
Eight restaurants on 17th Street in Costa Mesa plan to begin their second Restaurant Row event on Friday, offering free food and special discounts through July 29.
The event, spearheaded by Avanti Café, first took place in January. Avanti co-owner Tanya Fuqua said she conceived the event to spotlight the variety of dining opportunities along her street.
"We really think 17th Street has a lot to offer, not just in terms of retail, but in terms of food," she said. "There's something for everybody. We don't really view it as a competition between restaurants. There's room for everybody here."
The following restaurants will offer special deals over the next week: Avanti Café will offer all-you-can-eat pasta for $11.50 on Friday and Saturday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. From July 20 to 29, customers can get a smoking tomatillo or garnet yam sandwich free with an Avanti sandwich or pizzette from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Bottled wines will also sell for 10% off. Caliente will offer a dinner at 50% off with the purchase of a second one every day from 3 to 9 p.m. French's Cupcake Bakery will offer a strawberry shortcake dessert every day for $3.95 to $4.50.
Customers who purchase a dozen dinner rolls will get a half-dozen free. Garduno's Ristorante Italiano will offer a free entrée with the purchase of a second entrée and a bottle of wine Sunday through Thursday. Greek Town Grill will offer two-for-one beers and 50% off bottles of wine every day. Haute Cakes Caffe will offer a free cup of gourmet Café Moto drip coffee every day with any breakfast purchase. Thai Spice will offer a dinner at 50% off with the purchase of one dinner and one drink. WineStyles will offer a Friday wine tasting special July 20 and 27, with two-for-one tasting from 6 to 8 p.m.; on July 21 and 28, there will be $10 tastings from 1 to 3 p.m.
