A local man is in custody on suspicion of cultivating marijuana after Costa Mesa police found about 100 pot plants in his house, said police Sgt. Bryan Glass.
Officer Bill Adams arrested Chad Hoffman, 33, of Costa Mesa, on Tuesday at his house in the 900 block of Senate Street. Inside the house, police found nearly 100 plants being cultivated with the aid of a lighting system, Glass said. Hoffman is being held at Costa Mesa Jail on $20,000 bail.
Adams was responding to a domestic disturbance call.
"At that site, he gained information about an individual who was growing marijuana. He went to the location and contacted [Hoffman] there, where he found approximately 100 plants," Glass said.
