The Costa Mesa Planning Commission on Monday will hold a new hearing on developer Barry Saywitz's request to subdivide a 12-unit apartment complex on Victoria Street into condos for individual sale.
Saywitz requested a rehearing after the commission voted in April to allow the conversion to condos if three of the apartments were eliminated — a condition he said makes the project economically unfeasible.
The City Council in April placed a moratorium on condo conversions while new standards are drawn up, but Saywitz's request was one of several that were grandfathered in because they were already in process.
