Customers who visit Nordstrom at South Coast Plaza later this month can come away with shimmering new nails. They can also leave with one degree of separation from Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Renee Zellweger and a number of other Hollywood stars.

On June 23, the store is expected to get a visit from Deborah Lippmann, the manicurist and nail expert whose products sell to — and, in some cases, bear the names of — a celebrity clientele. Lippmann, who launched her first line of nail products in 1999, has collaborated with stars to create some of her most popular colors. Among the items on the rack are Carey's "Satin Doll," Parker's "Sarah Smile" and Zellweger's "Walk Away Renee."

Kendall Bingham, a spokeswoman for the Nordstrom corporate office in Seattle, said the show would begin at 8:30 a.m. on the first floor of the South Coast Plaza store, with Lippmann scheduling manicuring appointments between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Several manicure stations will be set up around the store.

Nordstrom is one of a number of local retailers with Lippmann products on their shelves — and those who want an alternative to the Lippmann Collection can head to Bath and Body Works on the other end of South Coast Plaza. The retailer has an exclusive agreement to carry Lippmann's second brand, known as Vinyl, which Associate Vice President Monica Rowe said was targeted at a younger demographic.

"It's more of a fun, trendy line that has brighter, fun shades that are wearable," she said. "We feel a girl can be wearing her sheer pink for a few days and then, if she wants to switch up, she can switch to red or orange neon for the summer."

Debbi Rightler, a saleswoman who orders Lippmann products for Planet Beauty in Newport Beach, said the brand was among her store's most popular.

"There are certain colors that we sell out of all the time," she said. "I have to sell the testers for some of them."
