She helped lead her team to a second straight undefeated conference basketball season and a fifth straight GSAC championship. She is a four-time All-GSAC and NAIA All-American winner. She holds the school record for career points and rebounds, is a two-time VU Athlete of the Year and GSAC and NAIA scholar athlete; she received the NAIA's Leroy Walker Champions of Character award.
RACHEL BOMGREN
As the starting shortstop and team MVP for the past four years, she received the VU Athlete of the Year award for softball. A two-time All-GSAC and All-Region II player, she also led all GSAC players in overall batting average, hitting a career-high .545. She broke VU's school record for career hits during the season and led her team to its first post-season appearance since 1999.
DIETER WEISLMAIER
He is currently the 14th-ranked NAIA men's player in the nation and a part of the 13th-ranked NAIA men's tennis doubles team in the nation. As team captain, he led the Lions to an 18-6 overall record a third-place finish in the Golden State Athletic Conference. He is a member of Vanguard's LIONS (Leaders Influencing Our Nation's Sports) within the Champions of Character Program and was an Academic All-GSAC and NAIA scholar athlete last year.
