ORANGE — Junior Connor Rose and sophomore Cait Williamson won boys' and girls' individual titles, respectively, helping lead the Sage Hill School boys and girls teams to Academy League cross country titles at Irvine Regional Park Tuesday.
It was the first league championship for the girls and the first for the boys since 2003.
Rose, who came in at 16 minutes, 17 seconds, finished four seconds ahead of his rival, Cole Pavlovic of St. Margaret's, which came in second as a team. Sean McElroy (third in 16:41), Lion Wintemute, (fifth in 17:30), Kyle Simon (13th in 18:08) and Conrad Whitaker (14th in 18:09) also contributed to the league title.
Williamson finished in 19:32 to lead a 1-2-3 finish that included teammates Aiyana Borownicki (19:37) and Katie McKeon (20:09), who helped Sage narrowly defeat St. Margaret's 28-26. Kara Percival (21:04) came in ninth and Erica Faris (21:25) was 13th.
