ROUNDUP:Sage Hill boys and girls win

HIGH SCHOOL

ORANGE — Junior Connor Rose and sophomore Cait Williamson won boys' and girls' individual titles, respectively, helping lead the Sage Hill School boys and girls teams to Academy League cross country titles at Irvine Regional Park Tuesday.

It was the first league championship for the girls and the first for the boys since 2003.

Rose, who came in at 16 minutes, 17 seconds, finished four seconds ahead of his rival, Cole Pavlovic of St. Margaret's, which came in second as a team. Sean McElroy (third in 16:41), Lion Wintemute, (fifth in 17:30), Kyle Simon (13th in 18:08) and Conrad Whitaker (14th in 18:09) also contributed to the league title.

Williamson finished in 19:32 to lead a 1-2-3 finish that included teammates Aiyana Borownicki (19:37) and Katie McKeon (20:09), who helped Sage narrowly defeat St. Margaret's 28-26. Kara Percival (21:04) came in ninth and Erica Faris (21:25) was 13th.

GIRLS' GOLF

Southern team Divisional

CHINO — Jessica Milner tallied a team-best of 12-over-par 84, but Corona del Mar High finished seventh out of 16 teams and missed moving on by three strokes.

Also contributing to the Sea Kings' team score of 443 were Cierra Gaytan-Leach with an 86, Jonna Kim (87), Courtney Wright (91), Kelly Moorhead (95). Katherine Hanson fired a 96 for CdM.

CHINO — Taylor West led Estancia High with a 14-over-par 86 at the team Southern Divisional of the Sectional CIF Championship Tuesday at El Prado Golf Course.

The Eagles shot 463 as a team to finish 10th in the 16-team field. The top four schools advance to the Southern Section Regional.

Caroline Clements (88), Lina You (90), Bridget Gleason (99) and Kim Haycraft (100) also scored.

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL

Corona del Mar def. University

IRVINE — The Sea Kings won, 25-22, 25-18, 25-13, at University High Tuesday to finish off an undefeated Pacific Coast League season.

In her first match back from injury, senior Juliane Piggott had 11 kills and 14 digs for Corona del Mar (19-6, 8-0 in league). Kelly Christian had 14 kills, 16 assists, three aces, five digs and two blocks for the Sea Kings.

Kasey Kipp had 10 kills, Madison Smith added nine digs and Jamie Lawson 21 assists for CdM.

Newport Harbor def. Marina

HUNTINGTON BEACH — The Sailors swept Marina, 25-15, 25-13, 25-19, in a Sunset League match on Tuesday behind senior Katie Wells' 13 kills and three solo blocks.
