SPRINGFIELD, Mo. ? The Newport Beach Breakers held a 19-16 lead heading into the final set of their World Team Tennis season opener Thursday against the host Springfield Lasers, but lost the match, 21-20, at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
Springfield's Andreea Vanc topped the Breakers' Anastassia Rodionova, 5-1, in women's singles to bring the Lasers all the way back.
Newport Beach's Ramon Delgado teamed with Jeff Tarango to win men's doubles, 5-3.
Delgado and Rodionova won mixed doubles, 5-4, and Rodionova teamed with Tina Krizan to win women's doubles, 5-4.
