YELSEY STANDS OUT
Former Corona del Mar High standout Anne Yelsey, a junior tennis standout at Stanford University, teamed with senior Alice Barnes to be named Pac-10 Women's Doubles Team of the Year.
Yelsey and Barnes won their second conference doubles title in April and were 35-3 heading into the first round of the NCAA Team Championship on Friday against Quinnipiac.
BROWN LIONS' BEST
Senior pitcher Clay Brown is the lone Vanguard University representative on the All-Golden State Athletic Conference baseball team.
Brown, who went 8-5 with a 2.43 earned-run average and threw five complete games, including one shutout, made the 19-player squad selected by conference coaches.
In two seasons at Vanguard, the 6-foot-1 right-hander, compiled a 2.71 ERA in 133 innings.
