'Eaters handle UC Davis

college roundup for Monday editonDAVIS, Calif. -- Victor Lamm, Alex Sundling and Trevor Dobson won in singles and doubles to help UC Irvine earn a 5-2 nonconference men's tennis victory over UC Davis on Sunday.

Lamm won, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, then teamed with Sundling -- a 7-6, 7-6 winner at No. 5 singles -- to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.

Dobson won at No. 6 singles and teamed with Mustafa Ulukan for an 8-6 triumph at No. 1 doubles.

Aaron Ellis was another singles winner for the Anteaters, who improved to 3-6.

Triton Invitational

LA JOLLA -- UC Irvine saw a 3-1 halftime lead vanish in a 6-5 loss to host UC San Diego in the fifth-place game of the Triton Invitational on Sunday.

Julia Fancher had three goals and Gianna Rossi added two for UCI, but it wasn't enough as the Tritons scored four goals in the third period to tie it and netted the only goal of the fourth quarter for the win.

UCI advanced to the fifth-place final by defeating UC Davis, 4-2, earlier Sunday.

The Anteaters are now 5-2.
