Registration for the 2005 Youth Flag Football, for boys and girls
ages 8 to 13. The program starts on Sept. 26 and ends on Dec. 3. This
program provides youth in the community the opportunity to
participate in a noncompetitive Flag Football league. Participants
will learn the basics of Flag Football, meet new friends and have
fun. Register in person Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the
Balearic Community Center, 1975 Balearic Drive, Costa Mesa.
Registration closes on Sept. 23. Registration is taken on a

"Summertime and the living is -- SAFE" will be the topic at this
month's Speak Up Newport meeting. The Newport Beach Police Department
will give a presentation about summertime safety tips with video of
past July 4th's at the beaches and special safety procedures in
effect for the Fourth of July. Questions and answers will follow the
presentation. The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. at the Newport Beach
