10-5-1 in the OEC) Thursday, a career-best outing with three doubles,
three runs scored and two RBIs. Matt Meadows was 2 for 4 with a
two-run home run and four RBIs in his first start in nearly two
months after sitting out with a fractured leg.

* TENNIS: Corona del Mar High senior Wesley Miller, as well as CdM
senior partners Matt Chou and Spencer Reitz, won first- and
second-round matches, respectively, in the CIF boys singles and
doubles divisions Thursday, four of several victories for
Newport-Mesa players in various divisions who advanced in the 105th
annual Ojai Valley tennis tournament.
Miller defeated Jenson Turner of Campbell Hall, 6-2, 6-2, in the
first round, before handling Michael Eraso of Sunny Hills, 6-1, 6-4,
in the second round.
Miller competes in the Round of 16 today at 8 a.m. at Thatcher
School. If victorious, he would play in the quarterfinals, scheduled
for 12:30 p.m.
Chou and Reitz knocked off Rashid Rahman and Daniel Sagaf from
Taft High, 6-1, 6-1, before defeating Alok Chandick and Alan Estareja
from Redlands, 6-4, 6-1.
They advance to today's Round of 16, also at Thatcher School.
In girls 18s singles, Newport Harbor High junior Megan McKay won
twice, the latter a victory against Evelyn Wallace of Costa Mesa,
6-2, 6-4, to reach today's Round of 16 against Olivia Colman of Los
Angeles at 11 a.m. today at Thatcher School.
Newport Harbor sophomore Jake Fleming downed Costa Mesa resident
Charlie Alvarado, 6-1, 6-1, to reach the Round of 16 in boys 16s
singles, where he faces Nicolas Patonai at 9:30 a.m. today at
Nordhoff High.
Corona del Mar freshman Alexandra Walters downed Sutton Anderson
of Breckenridge, Colo., 6-0, 6-1, to advance to today's Round of 16
in girls 16s singles. Walters faces Brooklyn resident Gail Brandsky
at 8 a.m. at Villanova School.
Newport Beach's Parker Rhodes defeated Costa Mesa's Charlie Corum,
6-0, 6-0, in the Round of 32 in boys 14s singles and faces Clay
