The Corona del Mar High frosh/soph boys volleyball team went
undefeated in the University tournament and claimed the title
following a victory over Santa Margarita in the championship match
March 19.
The Sea Kings defeated San Clemente in the semifinal match to
advance to the title showdown against the Eagles.
Coached by Steve Conti, the team includes Greg Stone, Tyler
Johnson, Matt Greene, Alex Johnston, David Ensign, Gavin Ball,
Dillion Flinn, Spencer Price, Michael Tanzer, Will Ho, Steven
Deverian and Tyler Stinehart.
Volleyball
Junior varsity
The Newport Harbor High junior varsity boys volleyball team
defeated Long Beach Millikan, 25-21, in the Gold Division
championship final of the Capistrano Valley tournament.
Tucker Peleuses was named Player of the Tournament, while Paul
Kawamura and Max Volz earned all-tournament honors.
The team, which beat Mira Costa in the semifinals, consists of
Kawamura, Volz, Peleuses, Matt Helfrich, Dusty Campbell, Boyd Grubbs,
Billy Brown, Mark Lieberman, Bryce Burnham, Ryan Hilts, Andrew
Kaeben, Clayton Heiser, Jamie Galey, Chad Stassel and Jonsen Carmack.
Coaches include Bryan Cottreil, Taryn Tarnutzer and Hadley
Burnham.

Junior varsity
Kelly Pfeiffer threw seven innings to lead the Newport Harbor High
junior varsity softball team to a 3-2 nonleague home win over San
ClementeTuesday.
Theresa Pfeiffer, Brytnee Wright and Felicia Leal all made plays
in the infield for the Sailors.
