Gary Gattis was 2 for 5 with three RBIs in the visiting Orange Coast

College baseball team's 7-3 victory over Fullerton in Orange Empire

Conference play Tuesday.

Luke Beck was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a triple for the

Pirates (8-7, 2-1 in the OEC), while Robbie Blauer was 2 for 4 with

one run scored and an RBI.

Fullerton's Aaron Randall hit a home run in the fifth inning, but


the Hornets (11-3, 1-2) couldn't overcome OCC's three-run fifth


CdM flies by Monarchs

* TENNIS: Both Wesley Miller and Fabian Mathews swept their sets

at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, to lead the Corona del Mar

High boys tennis team to a 14-4 nonleague victory over Mater Dei.

Miller and Fabian both eked by Mater Dei's Chris Kearney, 7-5,

while all three doubles teams (Matt Chou-Ryan Caughren, Spencer

Reitz-Jonathon Kroopf and Alex Nguyen-Robert Koury) won two sets.

Estancia tops Marina

* GOLF: Juniors Marcus Sostak and Garrett McMasters each shot

6-over-par 42 to earn co-medalist honors as the Estancia High boys

golf team improved to 2-1 with a 221-226 nonleague victory over

visiting Marina at Mesa Verde Country Club Tuesday.

Pat Flannery (44), Greg Les (46) and Austin Serr (47) also scored

for Estancia, which features four returning All-Golden West League

players. Sostak won the league individual title last year.

Newport bests Western

* GOLF: Senior Davis Pemstein shot par to earn medalist honors and

lead the Newport Harbor High boys golf team to a 183-218 victory over

host Western at Dad Miller Golf Course in Anaheim Tuesday.

Pemstein shot 35 with one birdie and one bogey, while seniors

Rhett Palmer and Brandon Sowers shot one-over-par 36 for the Sailors

(2-1). Chris Willard and Andrew Skjonsby both shot 38.

Vanguard is perfect

* TENNIS: All six singles players and all three doubles teams won

as the Vanguard University women's tennis team improved to 11-0, 9-0

in the Golden State Athletic Conference following a 9-0 victory over

visiting Hope at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center Tuesday.

Jenny Edner, Alena Votavova and Olivia Amstad all won their

singles sets without losing a game, while Amy Brown and Kristen

Eichenmuller both won, 6-1, 6-0. Damia Donkerfoort won, 6-1, 6-1.

Mesa downs Amigos

* BASEBALL: The Costa Mesa High baseball team gave up four runs to

visiting Los Amigos in the seventh inning but escaped, 7-6, in both

teams' third game of pool play in the Newport Elks tournament


Senior Steven Mendez finished 2 for 3 with a double and two runs
