Irvine man dies in motorcycle crash

An Irvine man died Thursday night after his motorcycle struck the

back of a truck on a San Diego Freeway offramp in Costa Mesa.

Lawrence Rossow, 27, was riding his 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle on

the Fairview Road offramp of the freeway just before 9 p.m., Costa

Mesa Police Lt. Dave Anderson said. Witnesses reported he was driving

about 100 miles per hour, Anderson said.

Rossow's motorcycle struck the back of a Ford pickup truck,

throwing him into a fuel truck in the next lane and then to the

pavement, according to the California Highway Patrol. Another car

then ran over him, pinning him underneath, police said.

Rossow was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash closed the

offramp for three and a half hours.
