HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER
Mesa wins opener, 2-1
Costa Mesa High's girls soccer team opened its season on the right
foot with a 2-1 nonleague win over visiting Rosary Tuesday at Costa
Mesa High.
Jasmin Day kicked the game-winning goal on a pass from Sharon Day
to give the Mustangs (1-0) the win.
"Sharon made a beautiful move on the right win to beat two players
on the dribble to draw the goalie out and passed to Jasmin who put in
the corner of the net," said Costa Mesa Coach Dan Johnston. "That was
a sweet goal."
Jasmin Day also added an assist on Mesa's first goal by Kristen
Bagwell in the 10th minute.
Kaitlyn Gentling made five saves and Kindra Bailey added one save
for Mesa in goal. Gentling played the second half and Bailey started
