Newport Harbor High edged visiting Foothill on games, 77-66, after
a 9-9 tie in sets Monday in a Sea View League girls tennis finale as
the Sailors secured second place in league with an 8-2 mark. They
will compete in the league tournament started today at Irvine High.
For Newport Harbor (13-6 overall), junior Vanessa Dunlap swept at
No. 2 singles, losing only one game. The Sailors' No. 1 doubles team
of juniors A.J. Olson and Diana Khoury, and No. 3 team of freshman
Carly Adams and junior Bonnie Adams, won two of three sets against
Foothill (5-5 in league), which plays Aliso Niguel in a third-place
playoff Thursday. The Tars finished the league season behind unbeaten
Woodbridge.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TENNIS
Sea Kings dominate
Corona del Mar High's first two doubles teams swept all three sets
while losing only one game Monday as the visiting Sea Kings defeated
Northwood, 16-2, in a Pacific Coast League finale.
Senior Anne Yelsey and freshman sister Rachel, playing No. 1
doubles for the Sea Kings (15-3, 9-0 in the PCL), and the No. 2 team
of junior Brittany Holland and senior Taylynn Snyder helped CdM to an
easy victory, in which Juliette Mutzke swept at No. 1 singles and
Amanda Rubenstein swept at No. 2 singles for CdM.

Albright leads pack
Sophomore Katie Albright of Corona del Mar High is the first-round
leader at 83 in the 36-hole Pacific Coast League girls golf
championships at El Prado Golf Course in Chino, where three members
of Coach Mike Starkweather's squad advanced to today's top-12 final
round.
Albright, Jackie McCoy (92) and Jennifer Woo (95) to the final
round. Albright leads by two strokes.
