JC baseball: Bucs rip Mt. SAC, 16-1

WALNUT - In its final tuneup before the Orange Empire Conference

season opens Tuesday, the Orange Coast College baseball team hammered

host Mt. San Antonio, 16-1, in a nonconference game Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates (11-2), who play Saddleback on the road Tuesday at 2 p.m.

to launch the 2002 OEC campaign, were led offensively by Kyle Stanley and

Ryan Marcos. Stanley was 5 for 6 with three runs and two RBIs, while

Marcos was 4 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs.

OCC starter Justin Azze, a 6-foot-3 left-hander from Fountain Valley

with a fastball in the 87-88 mph range, worked five innings to improve to

4-0. Azze struck out five, walked two and gave up four hits.
