Orange Coast College's women's basketball team gained a measure of
revenge Wednesday night as the Pirates turned visiting Cerritos College
away in a nonconference duel, 54-53, to improve to 10-4.
The Bucs, who lost to Cerritos on Sunday in the Coast Christmas
Classic championship game, got an early jump with a 30-22 halftime lead
and held on behind balanced scoring and a 27-17 edge in turnovers.
Kyra Melville was the leader with 10 points, six rebounds and four
assists, but the balance of Elizabeth Mendoza (eight points), Erin John
and Ashley Nelson (each with seven points) and Lauren Murray's six points
may have the the ultimate edge.
Nancy Hatsushi (five steals) and Melvile (four steals) keyed a 17-8
edge in steals.
