* THE WAR ON DRUGS

Calls the war on drugs "insane" and says it should be stopped

immediately. "When I was young and there was a big, expensive government

program that didn't work, people would call for ending it."

* GUN RIGHTS

Criticizes incumbent Rep. Christopher Cox (R-Newport Beach) for his

lack of support for gun owners. "He's very tepid in his support of 2nd

Amendment rights." The Libertarian argues that gun control laws don't

prevent criminals from accessing guns and that gun ownership benefits the

weakest members of society. "It's an equalizer between criminals and

victims."

* FOREIGN POLICY

Calls for the United States to pull out of most of its foreign

engagements. "Foreign meddling breeds hatred and distrust and causes the

very kind of terrorist attacks Americans are now starting to see."

* FEDERAL TAXES

Argues that the federal income tax could be eliminated and a

scaled-back version of the government could be operated solely on the

basis of corporate taxes, licensing fees and other revenue sources.
