NEWPORT BEACH - Nearly 60 participants took part in the NFL
Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick competition, hosted by the City of Newport
Beach Community Services Department Sept. 11-19 at local elementary
schools.
In the ages 8-9 girls division, first place honors went to Kaliegh
Gilechrist of Newport Elementary.
In the 8-9 boys division, Parker Stone of Anderson Elementary was the
winner, while Taylor Stone, also from Anderson, won in the 10-11
division.
Mariners' Sam Gainer was the top finisher in the 12-13 division, while
Brian Campos won from Newport Harbor High.
These winners will compete in a Sectional Competition, to be held Oct.
29 in Fountain Valley, a qualifying competition to the Team Championship
to be held at Qualcomm Stadium in conjunction with the San Diego Chargers
vs. Kansas City Chiefs football game.
